Wooden macbook
Wooden Macbook.
Check this out..
When the "Wooden Macbook" was finished, many web sources posted articles about whether or not it was the next Apple Netbook? This created a huge controversy, causing sources such as "Wired Magazine" to write articles on the Blog- Fight alone! No one Caught that it was actually made out of wood until the secret was revealed. One site took in 130,000 views in less than 48 hours , causing this website to shut down from the high volume of traffic.
Concept:
The idea was to create a "Bookart", so I felt like a miniature MacBook was appropriate. I constructed the casing out of wood, routering all the corners and then priming, sanding and painting the pieces white. The hinge system is exactly the same as to how the Mac would open, fully constructed out of hand cut MDF wood. After i painted the pieces, I used a pencil to add alll of the extra fine details. Drawing a screen and full keyboard. Also penciling in every tiny phillips head screw at its location. This piece is 3/4 the size of a original MacBook. What makes it an artist-book is that when opened, you'll notice the pull tab located under the screen. When you pull this, the screen ( which is magnetized from behind) lifts up to allow the piece underneath to fold out as a few features of the Mac. (Feather-Photoshop, Notepad, etc... all on a film strip to relate to the photos.
iphone pedestal
iPhone Pedestal.
This was a school assignment to make a wooden pedestal to hold up a "precious object". The first thing that goes in my pocket is my iPhone. I'm amazed by this phone more and more everyday, so I would proudly consider this my precious object. The middle section is made up of a few of the phone's amazing apps. All of these spin in the middle of the pedestal. The piece measures out to be about 36 inches tall.
The iPhone Pedestal was featured in the January issue of Mac Life Magazine. Also, this piece was invited to a Gizmodo Art Exhibition in New York City. Click on image to enlarge.
Nano Chromatic
Nano Chromatic.
This is the motorized Nano Chromatic Sculpture. Made from materials such as acrylic, wood, and aluminum. The Genius Logo spins in the middle, as well as the iPods up top from the motor built inside. The iPods were constructed out of hand-cut acrylic, which was polished. The image of an iPod was then printed, and applied behind the acrylic.

Arm Light
Arm LED.
This is the body extension project. The concept was a light to strap to your arm to light up whatever you were working on. Three adjustable LED's were used. An on/off switch was installed as well. Material is ABS plastic.
" I remember sitting in class with my completed Body Extension project in front of me, completed a few days early. The professor came around and saw my project, and told me "we were not supposed to buy our projects. We were supposed to make them", she said. Luckily, I had taken pictures of the build process. I showed her the photos so she would believe that I did construct it myself. She grabbed the piece and went to show it to the other professors."
iphone featured
iPhone Featured.
This is a Hand-made fiberglass canvas, that has been sanded, filled, primed, and finished by being painted white. Then the art began, from pencil to paint, showing only a few features in which the amazing iPhone offers. The features start out 2-d from the detailed phone, and make their way into a 3-d form off the canvas.
This piece was featured in the June issue of Mac Life magazine.
Model t
Wood Model-T.
When my nephew, Austin Sparks, came to me in need of help with his 6th grade school project, I was honored. The teacher said he could have some help since his arm was broken, so I constructed this Model-T Ford with his supervision.
Complete with pedals in the floorboard, wheels that roll, and opening doors, the Model T sizes up at 12.5" x 7.5" x 8.5".
Concrete
Concrete.
This is a concrete sculpture that I chose to finish one side, and to leave the other unfinished, showing the raw concrete. The detail on the right side of the face was applied using acrylic.

Cardboard
Cardboard Chrysler Building.
For this Project, Kyle wanted to replicate the Chrysler building , but made out of cardboard. The Building is double layered, in which the windows were cut on outside layers. Approximately 1300 windows were intricately cut to 1" x 1-1/8". 55 hours later, The completed structure measures out to be about 10 feet tall. Click on the images to enlarge.
The Cardboard Chrysler Building was one of the few chosen to be presented in VCU's Art Foundation Show. VCU also displayed this piece in the Art foundation Building during the Spring semester of 2009.
Apple Timepiece
Apple Timepiece.
I was approached by the store manager of the Apple store in the Short Pump Towncenter. He asked me to create a piece for one of their appreciated customers. I made this clock out of Acrylic, which was hand-cut and polished.
" I presented this to the customer at the Apple store, along with the Manager."
